What is kombucha?

Kombucha was not invented by a group of Californian surfers in the 80’s. And not, we were not the ones who invented it in our little town. Legend has it that kombucha was discovered in Asia thousands years ago. That’s so cool, isn’t it? You can read more of its history here.

With Komvida, we use that thousands years old recipe adding our personal touch. OK, ok… but what is kombucha then?

Kombucha is a beverage we obtain from four simple ingredients: green tea, scoby, water, and sugar. Wait, we know what you are thinking now: does it taste like tea? Does it have sugar? What is scoby?

Kombucha is a drink resulting of fermenting tea and sugar. The scoby, or symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, consumes sugar producing a tasty drink of delicate and natural bubbles. And yes, that is kombucha!

Ingredients of Kombucha

The real kombucha, like Komvida, is made just with four simple ingredients: organic green tea, scoby, water and organic sugar. We obtain the original flavor of kombucha with those 4 ingredients but we can add fruits and other organic ingredients to create different and tasty flavors!
